Worship and Church Activities

We seek to provide ways of connecting to God which suit diverse spiritual needs and preferred styles. Sunday Mornings are in a ‘traditional’ style suited to those who’re used to church.

Mid week worship ‘In a Modern Style’ is a short reflective format suited to those who want some spiritual space. It uses a wide range and style of contemporary music, texts and prayers.

Breakfast / Tea-Time Church is held in the Primary School and is aimed at families with young children.

Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals also form part of what is on offer as are Church focused activites such as occasional study groups prayer meetings and so on.

Safeguarding

Our Church asserts that EVERYONE needs to be rightly valued and cared for in all aspects of their lives but most especially when they are vulnerable.

Whilst we recognise that Children and Vulnerable adults are especially vulnerable, and should be particularly looked out for and protected from harm – We understand ‘vulnerable’ to mean – whenever someone is in a position where someone has power over them.

Thus all people are at times vulnerable and it is even possible to use ones own power to put oneself  in a vulnerable state.

For example – when even the most competent and strong willed adult is in a dentist’s chair they are in a vulnerable position (which they have chosen to put themselves in).

So our approach is that in all we do we work to the principles that :

Whenever and however anyone has power over anyone or their situation they use that power for good and minimise the risk of harm.

And whenever someone could be in a position where somoene could misuse their power over someone appropriate precautions are taken to minimse the risks.

Within this we all recognise that we can never fully remove risk, but we can minimise risk and inform people of ongoing risk in a way which they (or those who are responsible for them) can understand and choose to accept the risks in what they do (or choose not to take part).

The Church is not easily visible as you come down Church Lane, as it has a brick wall around the churchyard, but there is a Brown Sign ’13th Century Church’ almost opposite the church and angled to point toward the church’s black iron gates at the church path entrance.

Parking is on the street or for some events
in the field opposite the church.

We are easily accessed from both Junctions 35 and 36 of the M62 motorway. The nearest Train Stations are Goole or Howden (neither very near). There is no bus to the village.
